The Economist’s Global Liveability Index has named Adelaide as Australia’s most liveable city in 2021 and the world’s third most liveable city.

The Economist’s annual liveability survey has seen Adelaide rise to the most liveable city in Australia ahead of Perth (6), Melbourne (8) and Brisbane (10th). Only Auckland and Osaka come ahead of Adelaide in the survey of 140 cities.

 

​Adelaide has seen a remarkable increase in property prices, with a 16.1% rise over the past year and a significant 66.2% surge since 2020, following the Covid-19 pandemic. Adelaide's housing market is projected to surpass Melbourne, Australia's second-largest city, by the end of 2024, reaching an all-time high.
